As an aspiring colonist, you can purchase a land token by bribing a Free City official using the ancient currency $ETH. Parcels are sold for 0.05 ETH. Upon receiving your token, at the prescribed time, you can report to the joint World Government/Free City Coalition for Space Exploration (COSPEX) to redeem your token for your new land on Irateth. At that time, you will learn which plot is yours, it’s topographical characteristics and you can begin to plan your strategy to accumulate the element Bu. There are 6,400 land parcels on Irateth with 100 reserved by COSPEX for the space port and future uses. Each parcel has geographic features that may make it better or worse for resource production and/or more prone to atmospheric events. Purchase of a land parcel grants the owner:

• One of 6,400 land parcels on Irateth
• One M.A.R.M.O.T.
• Passage to Irateth
• $NRG Tokens
• $FOOD Tokens

Land produces three resources. Bennium ($BU) by mining, Energy ($NRG) by geo-thermal/solar and Food ($FOOD) by farming. Each resource is harvested by having a M.A.R.M.O.T. outfitted for the specific task.

Each plot of land requires 10 $FOOD per day to maintain at peak efficiency. Each M.A.R.M.O.T. requires 20 $NRG per day to maximize resource output.

Each plot of land can have up to three M.A.R.M.O.T.s working at a time.

Resources accumulate hourly. Yield can range from low to very high. If the land does not have the required $FOOD, or a M.A.R.M.O.T. does not have the required $NRG, resource output is reduced. The more severe the shortage, the greater the penalty. The highest penalty is 90%. Additionally, atmospheric and geological events can have either a positive or negative impact on resource production.

Occasionally, M.A.R.M.O.T.s malfunction and may run away to another land parcel. Usually, the new owner of the M.A.R.M.O.T. is reluctant to return it, but your mileage may vary.

M.A.R.M.O.T.s can also sustain damage. If a M.A.R.M.O.T. is lost or destroyed, all resources it possesses are also destroyed.

The many different seasons on Irateth can have a great impact on resource generation. They can also greatly increase the risk to your precious M.A.R.M.O.T.s. You’ll have to decide your risk tolerance to maximize your yield.

$BU, $FOOD and $NRG can be stored in the following locations:

• M.A.R.M.O.T.– The M.A.R.M.O.T. that produces the resource can hold it indefinitely. However, the resources are at risk of M.A.R.M.O.T. destruction or malfunction.
• Land Storage – Each land parcel has a storage facility. Resources can be transferred from each M.A.R.M.O.T. to the storage facility for safe keeping. However, resources in storage facilities are at a small risk of destruction by atmospheric or geological disaster.
• Space Port – $BU can be transferred to the Space Port for transport back to Earth. Any $BU that makes it safely back to Earth is forever safe on-chain.

The goal of Chapter One is to accumulate $BU. To ensure your hard mined $BU is safe, it should periodically be transferred to the Space Port for transport back to Earth. Approximately each 72 Earth hours, a transport ship will arrive to pick up all of the colonists $BU. Depending on the transport, your $BU will be taxed or potentially lost.

• World Government Transport – There is a 47.5% chance a world government transport arrives. Your $BU will be taxed between 3.5% and 6%.
• Free Cities Transport – There is a 47.5% chance a free cities transport arrives. Your $BU will be taxed between 1.5% and 4.5%.
• Raiders* – There is a 5% chance that a bandit transport arrives. In this event, all of your $BU is lost.

A mysterious race of bandits occasionally robs the Space Port. Nobody has been in contact with these aliens, and nobody knows their intentions. However, they must have a need for Bennium as they often will land a heavily armed cruiser, emptying the Space Port of all holdings. Other than the frequent thefts, these peculiar beings have yet to show any other ill intent.

Irateth has three predominant biomes:

• Arid – Wide open, dry space. Arid land is generally good for energy production.
• Temperate Rainforest – Generally near rivers, lakes and oceans, temperate rainforest is generally good for food production.
• Alpine Tundra – Mountainous areas. Alpine tundra biomes are generally where to find the most $BU.

Irateth has three predominant biomes:

To ensure you have enough $FOOD and $NRG to run your parcel efficiently, there is a market to efficiently allow the trading of resources. There are trading pairs for the following:

• $BU/$FOOD
• $BU/$NRG
• $FOOD/$NRG

To efficiently manage your land parcel(s), a dashboard is provided which allows the following:

• View world and local news including recent events and resource yields.
• View your land parcels and M.A.R.M.O.T.s and their associated Metadata.
• Buy M.A.R.M.O.T.s.
• Outfit a M.A.R.M.O.T. for $BU, $FOOD or $NRG production.
• Assign a M.A.R.M.O.T. to a land parcel or revoke assignment.
• View your accumulated resources and their locations.
• Transport resources to land storage.
• Transport resources to the Space Port.
• Outfit a M.A.R.M.O.T. for battle (Chapter 1.5)
